the rest of the story

I left home as planned on Dec 6 and drove to Nanaimo in female garb covered by loose jacket and pants. However, instead of heading directly to the ferry I made a random stop at a beauty salon where I took a huge chance and walked in and asked the lovely ladies there if there was any chance that they could give me a manicure and perhaps a facial make up. After an initial shocked reaction, they became extremely positive and showed me to the back of the empty salon where they sat me down and gleefully began to work on me as they plied me with questions! When the job was finished I realized I now was in the awkward position of being half and half, so it was off with my jacket and pants and on with heels and wig and off to do some shopping! What a feeling as I wandered through a couple of shops and found a delightful blue dress at VV which fit just a tad snugly. I bought it along with a scarf and headed back to the salon where I asked the ladies for another favour. Could they please zip me into my new dress?! They were delighted to assist and bid me farewell and best wishes as I headed to the ferry. As you can imagine, my confidence was now overflowing as I parked my vehicle and walked boldly to the ticket office and onto the ferry where I enjoyed the trip, wandering about, into the gift shop and enjoying a latte at the coffee shop. Then there was Joy to meet me at Tsawassen as scheduled,and we drove to Marika's house where we met some of you lovely ladies, then off to our Christmas gathering at the ABC in Surrey for a splendid evening of food and conversation. Lovely indeed to spend an evening in such fashion, and I thank you all for being a huge part what was a most special day for me.
